These were really out there! I've never experienced hunger "explode"...and "the smell of him" certainly doesn't sound attractive,if that's what the writer was going for. Fun post!
So true -- "smell" and "odor" have a negative feel, while "aroma" or "fragrance" sound inviting. Just a tiny change in word choice would have redirected the entire image!
